A life dedicated to the performing arts has led Shadia Fairuz to perform on such prestigious stages as Carnegie Hall, Russia’s Hermitage, B.B. King’s, Repertorio Español, and Pregones/Puerto Rican Travelling Theater, among others in Japan, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Spain and beyond, from an early age. Building on a classical foundation with lyric training, Shadia has conquered a wide range of styles, from jazz and musical theater to opera. Her passion for connecting music with storytelling has set her apart, earning her the respect and recognition of her peers, constantly opening doors to exciting new projects. She has shared the stage with international performers such as Tito Nieves, Domingo Quiñones, Danny Rivera, Paquito Cordero and has been a part of groundbreaking projects such as the, Off-Broadway sensation “I Like It Like That” US Spanish Premier of “In the Heights” – earning her a Helen Hayes best supporting actress Nomination– and the 1st National Broadway Tour of the hit “On Your Feet!”.
Her other passion is sharing her experience and training through with aspiring and accomplished artists through teaching. For over 15 years, Shadia has trained and inspired students of all ages and backgrounds across New York City. Working side by side exceptional and passionate music and performing arts educators in widely recognized platforms and organizations such as the Metropolitan Opera Guild’s Urban Voices Program and Leading the Vocal program for the Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts, has given her a unique perspective and sensibility as a teaching artist. Currently based in East Harlem, Shadia continues to empower and inspire aspiring singers and professional performing artists with reliable technique and dynamic instruction.
